Denali Musgrave

Denali Musgrave is an emerging printmaker raised in Saugerties, NY. She received her BFA from Montserrat College of Art in May of 2020 with a concentration in printmaking. While she is proficient in a variety of print methods, monotype had a freedom she hadn’t experienced before with other processes. She uses this freedom to explore handmade matrices, paper tearing techniques, and embossing to break away from traditional printmaking practices. Denali is interested in the interactions she has with herself and those she is surrounded by, and how these interactions affect not only her self-perception but the way in which those perceive her.

Due to her dedication to Montserrat's Printmaking Department Denali’s efforts have been recognized and awarded more times than not. She has received the Bob Edwards Scholarship, The Printmaking Merit Award, and the Printmaking Ambassador Award. In her senior year she was part of the thesis exhibition, Late Bloomer and was awarded first prize in Montserrat’s All Senior Show as well as The Senior Printmaking Award. While the COVID-19 Pandemic cut her time in the printmaking studio short Denali continues her practice at home learning and experimenting with the trace monotype process.
